We can add another face to the recent influx of Dominican models. Meet Rose Cordero. At 16, she's just getting started but she's signed with Wilhelmina and apparently has an exclusive contract with Burberry Prorsum. She's really beautiful! Hopefully we'll see more of her.

I've been reading comments about this shot, and the general consensus is that folks think she doesn't look good here. In my opinion, she looks no worse than the dry modelbots who are all the rage now. Not to mention that she's been doing it since these girls were babies. But enough about that...can we talk about her outfit?! I must track this skirt down ASAP! I love the washed denim and the pleated panel in front. Plus, the navy and gold color combo is tops. I've been mad for stripes as of late, so this is right up my alley. The orange in her necklace works perfectly as well.

Shorts!

There's something about short shorts and high heels that has me chomping at the bit for warmer weather. I know it's not a new concept, but it's not a look that I've attempted before. My legs are one body part that I love so I'm going to really show them off this summer. No boobs or booty to speak of, so I gotta work what I got.

Dead Fish...

There was something off about this past fashion week that seemed a bit off. I couldn't put my finger on it until I was looking at this show with my friend Kyrk this evening. I'd commented that the models didn't look as good in the NYC shows this time. He responded that maybe the designers are using cheaper models...the recession special. I don't know if this is the truth, or if the current trend are these extra bland, interchangeable modelbots that we've seen clomping down the runways. But it sucks either way. The clothes are supposed to be the focus, but the models are supposed to bring them to life! 99% of these girls are DOA...dead on arrival. They don't make the lines appealing! I never thought I'd say this, but bring back the GLAMAZONS!

Tolerance and Integration

I just watched an amazing documentary on LOGO about a comedian named Keith Price called "Ebony Chunky Love: Bitch Can't Get a Date". Other than it being really good, it got me thinking about why there needs to be separate channels for race or sexuality in the first place. Good TV is good TV, period. Obviously, I know why but being gay is about so much more than sex! Just like being black is about more than dancing, and sports. I can't proclaim to know what it's like to be gay. But I can imagine that if I were, I'd want people to pay less attention to what I do in the bedroom, and more attention to the fact that I'm a loving, caring, good person. I'd want them to know that my relationships are made of the same stuff that everyone else's is made of. Hopefully, one day we'll have more examples of functional GLBT, straight, Black, White, Asian, interracial relationships all over the place! That way we can focus on the important things like doing real good in this world.

I am a bonafide Kate Lanphearophile! A friend introduced me to her a while back (thanks Kyrk!) and I am utterly hooked. She has a very distinct, crisp yet undone style that I love. She manages to look the same, yet different every time she's photographed. Not many people can make spikes chic! Her accessories are always just right, though she doesn't seem to wear earrings. I'll Never Get Tired Of This...

Teaching Myself to Cook!

Side bar: I know this isn't fashion related but I couldn't cook my way out of a wet paper bag a year ago, and I've been slowly teaching myself. I take photos when the plate looks especially appetizing...

1. Slow cooked pork tenderloin (I didn't have any strings beans left)
2. Fusili with red sauce, peppers, and baked chicken breasts.
3. Fried chicken with string beans and biscuits (Trader Joes biscuits are the bomb dot com)

This is my absolute favorite dress from the Fall 09 Herve Leger collection! I think the shoes in the second photo are Giuseppe Zanotti, but I need to research to be sure. I can see me in this outfit now...
